One episode of the lecture series “The World of Medicine” by Jiangsu Vocational College of Medicine was held in the Lecture Hall on the afternoon of December 1st. The lecture was given by Dr. Jinhai Zhai from the Medical School under the topic of “COVID-19 Prevention and Treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine”.
The prevention and treatment of COVID-19 with TCM has its great significance. According to the “The Diagnosis and Treatment Plan of COVID-19 (Trial Eighth Edition)”, COVID-19 can be divided into three periods -- medical observation period, clinical treatment period (light, normal, severe, and critical), and recovery period. The thought of TCM treatment also includes three aspects: prevention before disease, prevention of change after diagnosed, and prevention of relapse after recovery. Based on this concept and the current clinical treatment effect for COVID-19, TCM treatment should be involved as soon as possible and taken in the whole process. Facing the COVID-19 TCM and the western medicine’s symptomatic treatment, respiratory support both have unique advantages. So the combined treatment of the two can achieve the best prognosis.
